QQ̄ modes in the Quark - Gluon Plasma

چکیده
We study the evolution of heavy quarkonium states with temperature in a Quark-Gluon Plasma by evaluating an in-medium Q ¯ Q T −matrix within a reduced Bethe-Salpeter equation in S− and P −wave channels. The interaction kernel is extracted from finite-temperature QCD lattice calculations of the singlet free energy of a Q ¯ Q pair. Quarkonium bound states are found to gradually move across the Q ¯ Q threshold after which they rapidly dissolve in the hot system. We calculate Euclidean-time correlation functions and compare to results from lattice QCD. We also study finite-width effects in the heavy-quark propagators.

Effects of Final-State Interaction and Screening on Strange- and Heavy-Quark Production
Final-state interaction and screening have a great influence on qq̄ production cross sections, which are important quantities in many problems in quark-gluon plasma physics. They lead to an enhancement of the cross section for a qq̄ color-singlet state and a suppression for a color-octet state. The effects are large near the production threshold. The presence of screening gives rise to resonances...
متن کاملEffects of Screening on Quark-Antiquark Cross Sections in Quark-Gluon Plasma
Lowest-order cross sections for qq̄ production and annihilation can be approximately corrected for higher-order QCD effects by using a corrective Kfactor. For energies where quark masses cannot be ignored, the K-factor is dominated by the wave function distortion arising from the initialor finalstate interaction between the quark and the antiquark. We evaluate this Kfactor for qq̄ production and ...
متن کاملModeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions
By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...
متن کاملQuarkonia and Quark Drip Lines in Quark-Gluon Plasma
We extract the Q-Q̄ potential by using the thermodynamic quantities obtained in lattice gauge calculations. The potential is tested and found to give dissociation temperatures that agree well with those from lattice gauge spectral function analysis. Using such a Q-Q̄ potential, we examine the quarkonium states in a quark-gluon plasma and determine the ‘quark drip lines’ which separate the region ...
متن کاملThe Role of Gluons in Dilepton Production from the Quark-Gluon Plasma
We study high mass dilepton production from gluon-induced processes, gq → qγ , gq̄ → q̄γ, and gg → qq̄γ, in a thermally equilibrated but chemically under-saturated partonic matter that is expected to be created in the initial stage of ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions. Regulating the divergence in these processes by the thermal quark mass, we find that gluon-induced processes are more import...
